Write a reflection about the classes you oriented this week (bear in mind the following aspects: what you planned, what you did, and what you would do differently if you were to teach your lessons again). Give examples and descriptions of those situations that, in your view, are relevant to your learning experience.
First grade. On
Monday we started a new topic that was shapes. I presented the topic throughout
flashcards, they knew the majority of the words, and we did a review and also
activities to clarify doubts. Then I gave them two activities in handouts
which they had to complete with the vocabulary and they completed it very well.
On Wednesday the class started 5 minutes later because the students were having
breakfast. My practicum adviser went to observe my classes. I had been waiting for him many times but just the day that I thought that he won't go, he went. When
I saw him I felt nervous but then I got calmed. When he arrived in class I was
doing the first activity, the students performed well the activity. In the
second activity took more time as I was expecting but students did it. In the
third activity also took more time as I wasn't expecting and in the last
activity they couldn't do in class but they had it as homework.
Second grade. I
had classes with them on Monday and Thursday, we did a small change only for
Thursday. On Monday we did a dictation activity in which the majority of the
students did it well, the two students who don’t know very well the numbers are
improving, they identify and name more numbers in comparison with the previous
classes and they liked the activity. On Thursday we played bingo, and
students also liked the activity, I think that activities like those help
students to understand and practice more the numbers, I will continue
implementing bingos in my classes.
Kindergarten. I
only had a class with them on Friday, today wasn’t the best day with them, they
were misbehaved, they do not want to study, only to play and this fact is making
me think about an appropriate strategy to stop with this problem. Today, we
continued practicing numbers, we had to do various activities in which they had
to count and color. They performed the first activity very well but they didn’t
do the second activity. I think that this class was a mess, Nicolas the boy who
has Autism syndrome didn’t want to stay in the classroom I had to go for him to
the park but he was aggressive, he didn’t want to have class, finally, he
entered to the school but he didn’t attend to class. When I was solving the
problem with Nicolas the other students were with other teacher but they were
so misbehaved. I was hoping to finish the class as fast as possible.
Hey Yulisa
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the class on Friday was a disaster. I can give you some topics based on my experience. If the students are too noisy, you can just rearrange the place where they are sitting, do not let them sit next to the same classmates as usual. Second, try to begin the class with a communicative and interactive activity, like a song. Make them sing, they will probably feel more calm after. Third, remember that you can not let students alone in the classroom, especially little kids. Something terrible could happen. In the case when you have to go and look for the other kid, do not do that again. Try calling another to do that for you.
