Write a reflection about the classes you oriented this week (bear in mind the following aspects: what you planned, what you did, and what you would do differently if you were to teach your lessons again). Give examples and descriptions of those situations that, in your view, are relevant to your learning experience.
Taking into
account that in the following week students will have their second academic
tests, during that week the students only reviewed the topics seen during the
second academic term. In order to reinforce and clarify doubts, the teacher
presented videos about the topics and some online games related to those.
Students liked a lot to watch the videos and even more the games related to the
topics. Some students mentioned that they clarified some doubts they had.
Regarding my
innovation plan, I have implemented 6 interventions in which I have seen a well
behavioral change in first-grade students’. My innovation plan was about a
token economy whose purpose is to change student’s behavior. I gave a task per
week for students to perform and we agreed on a reward in case they performed
the task in an adequate manner, it was to have a class in the park because they
like a lot to go outside the classroom. For instance, the first task was to
raise their hands when they want to participate. I decided to give this task
because when I did an activity and I needed participation students were excited
to participate, and all of them wanted to.
The most important condition was that all the students had to perform
the task because they had to work as a cooperative group. In that case, some
students performed the task adequately but some of them no, so they did not win
the reward. In the following week, students had the first and a second new task
because those were accumulative. I gave a new task every week. I was a little
bit frustrated because in the fourth week they have not won any reward, they
performed some task but not the others and it led them to do not win anything,
but I had seen a positive change in their behavior. In the fifth week they
finally won the reward, we had agreed to see a movie, the movie that they
wanted. They saw the movie and they told
that they liked to behave well to have those kinds of rewards.
Hello Yulisa! I think it is really nice the way you taught your kids to work in groups in order to get a reward, students do aprecciate that at all ages and feel importan or useful. I understand your frustration, sometimes you really want them to succed fast but we need to always keep in mind to work on our patience. At last, they will manage to do it and you will feel really proud of them!
